Score hands-free with Double Tap, the Digital Crown and swipes

Tennis Time can score without a tap on the cards. Double Tap gives you the point, the Digital Crown and a swipe go up for you and down for them, and wrist gestures work even with the racket in your hand. Turn each input on in Settings > Hands-free.

Turn inputs on or off

  1. On Home, tap Settings, then Hands-free.
  2. Under Inputs, tap Double Tap, Digital Crown, Swipe or Wrist gestures to turn each one on (yellow) or off.

All four are on to start with. You can also switch them during a match: tap the gear, then Match.

Where each input works

  • Double Tap, the Digital Crown and swipes work while the Score page is on screen.
  • Wrist gestures work from any page of the match.
  • None of them score during a warmup, while the match is paused, on the result screen or while a serving question is open.

Each kind of point has its own tap on your wrist, so you can tell your point, their point and an undo apart without looking.

Double Tap

Tap your index finger and thumb together twice. Tennis Time gives the point to your side. Double Tap needs an Apple Watch that supports the gesture, such as Series 9 or later and Ultra 2 or later.

Digital Crown

Give the crown one deliberate turn, about two clicks: up for your point, down for theirs. A turn counts once, when the crown stops for half a second, so a long turn is still one point.

Swipe

Swipe up anywhere on the Score page for your point, down for theirs. Sideways swipes still move between pages.

Note: Hands-free scoring is part of Pro.

Questions

Can I keep tennis score on Apple Watch without touching the screen?
Yes. Tennis Time scores with Double Tap and wrist gestures, so you never have to touch the screen between points. The Digital Crown and swipes are also available.
Why does Double Tap not score?
Double Tap needs a watch that supports it, the Double Tap input turned on in Settings > Hands-free, a running match that is not paused, and the Score page on screen.
